CAACI Statement on the FAA grounding of Boeing Max-9 aircraft worldwide

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) received the FAA’s Continued Airworthiness Notification to the International Community (CANIC) on Saturday 6 January at 3:45pm which detailed the Emergency Airworthiness Directive to operators of the Boeing 737 Max-9 aircraft. This Directive prohibited further flight of airplanes with a ‘mid cabin door plug’ installed, until the airplane is inspected and all applicable corrective actions have been performed.
The CAACI can further confirm that there are no Boeing 737 Max-9 aircraft on the Cayman Islands Aircraft Registry (CIAR). In addition, to date, there are no scheduled airlines carriers operating the Boeing 737 Max-9 aircraft into the jurisdiction.
The CAACI will continue to monitor developments with this situation and liaise with the FAA as needed.
