The National Conservation Council is seeing public comments on a plan to protect and conserve Aegiphila Caymanesis which has no traditional name (due to its extreme rarity). Currently listed as Critically Endangered it is a woody, clambering shrub with soft downy leaves that is unique to Grand Cayman. The public consultation period runs through January 15th. The species conservation plan would ban any taking, possession, purchase, sale or exchange of the plant without a permit. For more information, head to conservation.ky.
