17 - 18 November - between midnight and dawn
The Leonids are caused by the Earth passing through remnants left behind by comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle. Find a very dark spot and enjoy the best chances to see the meteors. Fortunately, the moon will set at 9:50 PM, improving the chances of seeing the "shooting stars" late at night. The meteors will appear to radiate away from the constellation of Leo in the East, though they can appear anywhere in the sky.
