The Department of Labour & Pensions would like to remind the public that the National Pensions (Amendment) Act 2020, in accordance with section 1(3) of that Act relating to the pension holiday, has been extended by Cabinet by way of Order until 30 June 2021. In December 2020 Cabinet granted further approval for the pension holiday to be extended during which time all employers and employees will not be required to pay mandatory pension contributions into pension plans. However, if it is agreed between the employer and employee, pension contributions can continue and those amounts would be considered as voluntary payments.
