Butterfield has awarded its annual scholarships to three promising students, including talented Caymanian Johann Matthew Uy, who will receive $30,000 for the upcoming academic year. These scholarships can be maintained for up to four academic years.
Johann has been awarded the Butterfield Undergraduate Scholarship granting $30,000 per year towards his studies in Computer Science with Industrial Experience at the University of Manchester. With a keen interest in Robotics, Johann is the former co-head of his school’s Robotics Club, where they won the Best Engineering Notebook Award at the island’s SeaPerch competition. Outside of his academic achievements, Johann is an accomplished pianist, and was selected as a finalist in Butterfield’s Young Musician of the Year in 2024.

Butterfield has awarded two further scholarships in its other core banking jurisdictions, with Sioma Rudo from Bermuda who has received the Sir Harry D. Butterfield Undergraduate Scholarship to study Human Resources Management at Saint Mary’s University and Charlotte Dorey receiving the Butterfield Channel Islands Undergraduate Scholarship to study Management at ESCP Business School in Paris.
