Participants turned out on Sunday morning for the inaugural Cayman Islands Basketball Association (CIBA) 5K Walk/Run, making the event a successful celebration of community, fitness and national basketball.
Promptly at 6:30 a.m., participants of all ages and fitness levels set off under the leadership of CIBA President Collin Anglin, embracing the event as both a walk and a run while rallying behind the future of basketball in the Cayman Islands.
Proceeds from the inaugural fundraiser will support the Association’s national programs, including assisting the Cayman Islands Under-17 National Team with travel expenses to compete at the AAU Tournament in Orlando, Florida.
160 persons were registered for the event.
The event brought together families, athletes, supporters and community members in a shared display of national pride, reinforcing CIBA’s commitment to developing the sport on and off the court.
CIBA extends its sincere appreciation to its valued sponsors whose support made the event possible: Boost Energy Drink, Signs of Paradise, Pepsi, Cost U Less, Cayman Cabana, and Foster’s.
“This event is about more than crossing a finish line, it’s about helping our young athletes reach theirs. We are grateful to everyone who participated, volunteered and supported our vision for the future of basketball in the Cayman Islands.” Collin Anglin, CIBA President
