The Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC) hosted its annual Career Fair at the John Gray High School Gymnasium on Friday, 18 September 2026. The event brought together 250 CIFEC Year 12 students and 45 organisations from across the Cayman Islands for a day of career exploration and engagement with the world of work.
Participating organisations included the Ministry of Education and Training, the Cayman Islands Fire Service, the Health Services Authority, Dart, Ogier and others.
Several students participated in on-the-spot interviews throughout the day, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and make a positive impression on prospective employers.
“This is their starting point,” said CIFEC Career Services Manager Ms. Jenine Stewart. “This is where they vie for internship placements, engage with employers and aim to make a very good impression.”
“Speaking directly with employers gave me valuable insight into the skills, qualifications and courses I will need to pursue my career interests,” said CIFEC student Taylon Duarte. “I am particularly interested in the automotive and construction industries and was able to share my resume with several employers, including NAPA, McAlpine and Superior Auto. I also learned about internship and scholarship opportunities, which has motivated me to continue my education and work towards my future career.”
Ms. Stewart expressed her delight at the support from local businesses. She noted that several students received offers on the day and that about 50 employers who did not attend are also offering work placements.
“Those students who did not receive offers at the Fair are placed by the Career Services Unit, ensuring that every child receives a placement opportunity,” Ms. Stewart said. “Available roles in their field are discussed with them, after which they can make a decision.”
