The Department of Commerce and Investment (DCI) advises licence holders that delays are currently being experienced in the processing of Trade and Business Licence (TBL) renewal applications.
These delays are due to a combination of increased application volumes, enhanced compliance requirements, additional due diligence and incomplete applications.
The Department has implemented a backlog reduction plan and is working to process outstanding applications as quickly as possible. Licence holders are encouraged to continue submitting their renewal applications at least three months before expiration of licences. Applicants should ensure that required supporting documents including evidence of pension and health are submitted where applicable.
DCI appreciates the patience and understanding of applicants who submitted renewal applications in advance and apologises for the inconvenience caused. The Department assures license holders that reducing the backlog and improving processing times remain key priorities for the Department.
