Grand Cayman, June 11, 2026 - The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is advising the public of the early closure of the George Town Landfill operation on Monday, June 15, 2026, in observance of the public holiday to celebrate King Charles III’s Birthday. The George Town Landfill will close at 1:00 pm on this public holiday. No reception of derelict vehicles or scrap metals will be permitted on this day at the landfill or the scrap metal recycling facility.

However, regular garbage collection and recycling operations will be as normal. Regular operations at the George Town Landfill will resume on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Members of the public are also encouraged to use the 24-hour drop-off site at the entrance of the landfill which will remain open to facilitate the disposal of small amounts of waste from residential customers, if necessary. There will be no changes in the schedule for Sister Islands and collections as normal.
