Politics & Government
07 September 2026, 05:14 AM

The Standing Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will hold public hearings on Tuesday, 8th September and Wednesday, 9th September 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on each day, to examine the Auditor General’s Report, “Summary of Outstanding OAG and PAC Recommendations.” Published by the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) in April 2026, the Report provides an overview of the status of Government Minutes responding to PAC reports as of 15th March 2026 and summarises outstanding recommendations made by the OAG and PAC across reports published between July 2015 and February 2025. The report identified 249 outstanding OAG and PAC recommendations as of 15th March 2026, including 141 recommendations that have remained outstanding for more than five years. It was also noted that eight Government Minutes were outstanding at the time of the Report. During the two-day hearing, the Committee will hear from relevant public officials as it examines the findings of the Auditor General’s Report and the progress made in addressing outstanding recommendations. The hearings form part of the PAC’s role in examining the use of public funds and following up on recommendations aimed at strengthening accountability, transparency and the effective delivery of public services.
The public can watch the proceedings live at the House of Parliament in George Town after signing in with security personnel. Proper business attire is required to sit in the Public Gallery. The proceedings can also be seen live on the Cayman Islands Government’s YouTube channel, on CIGTV, Logic Channel 23, C3 Channel 3, FLOW Channel 106, and Radio Cayman.
