The Cayman Islands National Weather Service and Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) are continuing to monitor a cold front that is affecting the Cayman Islands this evening. A Marine Warning for all three Islands remains in effect and the public is reminded to exercise extreme caution until further updates are provided. Weather conditions are expected to last until tomorrow afternoon, 6thFebruary, and sea conditions may remain unsafe for up to 12 hours after the gale force winds subside.

The Cayman Islands Government recommends that the public continue to refrain from engaging in any in-water activities on all three Islands, stay well back from the shoreline, and ensure that marine vessels remain in safe harbour and secured until further notice.

The most severe weather conditions are expected to continue into the hours of tomorrow morning. The public is asked to exercise caution on roadways as there have been reports of fallen trees as well as power outages. Residents who experience a disruption to their power service are reminded to check the CUC outages map for more information.
