University of Southampton student receives USD $25,000 award to support actuarial science studies

A passion for numbers, a natural gift for leadership, and a collaborative spirit have earned Caymanian student Janani Kumar the 2025 CG BritCay Insurance Scholarship.

Currently entering her final year at the University of Southampton in the UK, Kumar is one of only a small number of Caymanians pursuing a career in the highly specialised field of actuarial science. The scholarship grants her USD $25,000 toward tuition and other higher education costs.

“Janani exemplifies what we seek to encourage through this scholarship — a remarkable drive for academic achievement, valuable professional experience, and a profound dedication to making a positive impact within the community,” said Audrey Prendergast, CG BritCay’s HR Manager.

“She stood out among an impressive group of applicants, and we have every confidence that she will continue to excel, making meaningful contributions both here in Cayman and beyond. We are proud to support her on this journey.”
