8AM UPDATE: A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Grand Cayman

Potential Tropical cyclone 15 at 7 am is about 400 miles of Grand Cayman. The system is expected to become a tropical storm later on today. Strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days and the system could be near hurricane strength by Wednesday.

The Cayman Islands can expect scattered showers with embedded thunderstorms from late Monday night.

Winds are expected to be east to northeast at 15 to 20 knots with gusts to 30 knots from Tuesday morning and with wave’s height up to 6 to 8 feet with 5 feet swells from the SE.
