The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA), which owns and operates the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) and the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport (CKIA), issued a statementregarding an incident with a departing private aircraft at CKIA at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, 29 August 2019.

The aircraft takeoff was aborted safely and there are no reported injuries. Airport personnel were on scene and working to resolve the issues surrounding the incident. Runway operations at CKIA were suspended.
