Cayman lawyer, Andrew Keast, has completed the World Marathon Challenge where he ran in 7 marathons across 7 continents in 7 days to raise over US $30,000 for the Breast Cancer foundation and to bring awareness to breast cancer.

On January 31st, Keast began the challenge in Antarctica, where he finished in sixth place. He then went on to race 26.22 miles in South Africa, Australia, Dubai, Madrid, Brazil, and finally Miami, placing 2nd in four out of seven marathons. Keast has dedicated his 2nd place wins to his dear friend and breast cancer survivor, Julie, as well as his beloved cat, Sharon.

“Nearly all of us know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. The support these people receive on the Cayman Islands is amazing, but the fight is ongoing, and we need to support the people providing the support,” expressed Andrew Keast.

“A huge congratulations to Andrew Keast on completing this unbelievable test of endurance,” added Kim Lund, Founding Member and Board Director at the Breast Cancer Foundation. “From everyone at the Foundation, we’d like to thank Andrew for raising over $30,000 and showcasing our Foundation on a global scale.”

“As a small way of lending my support, I am raising money in connection with a marathon challenge. The challenge is to complete 7 marathons on each of the 7 continents in 7 days. A small challenge compared to some of the challenges people affected by breast cancer face,” added Keast. “Nonetheless, I would be grateful if you would support me in supporting them by sponsoring my challenge,” said Keast.

“It is people like Andrew Keast who make a huge impact for the Foundation,” added James Bovell, Founding Member and Board Director at the Breast Cancer Foundation. “By participating in the World Marathon Challenge, Andrew enables us to raise additional funds needed to support breast cancer patients and survivors through numerous programs and services”

The Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) was established on the 30th of September 2009 under the directorship of Kim Lund, James Bovell and John Broadbent. BCF provides support to breast cancer patients and survivors through numerous programs and services, including their Awareness Program, Wellness Program (Bra Room and Wig catalogue).  Additionally, the foundation provides free Mammogram and Ultrasound Vouchers to the community, and more.
