Individuals passionate about enhancing and empowering Caymanian youth now have a unique opportunity to make a national impact, as the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage (MYSCH) officially opens applications for the National Youth Commission (NYC). The NYC is an independent voluntary body with the primary responsibility to monitor the implementation of the National Youth Policy and advocate for youth issues to be addressed in all relevant legislation. Furthermore, it has a strategic remit focused on advising on legislative policies, needs, priorities, programmes and budget related to the children and youth of the Cayman Islands.

The Ministry is seeking to fill 7 of the 13 positions that comprise the NYC. Interested individuals are invited to apply for one of the following:

  • Chairperson (open to individuals from any professional background; however, candidates should possess prior board or committee experience and a demonstrated ability to lead at a strategic level.)
  • Psychologist/ Social Worker
  • Attorney-at-Law
  • Registered Medical Practitioner
  • Youth Representative (aged 15-25) from the Sister Islands
  • Representative from the Finance/ Business Community
  • Layperson

(Note: Public officers are ineligible for a voting position due to the Commission's remit/nature.)

The NYC meets at least 10 times per year and successful applicants must be available to actively participate in meetings. Additionally, successful applicants will serve up to three years and will be eligible for reappointment.

Interested individuals can apply by completing the form found here. Deadline to apply is 27 June 2025. Applicants will undergo a shortlisting process with interviews conducted by the Ministry of Youth and successful applicants will be notified of their appointment.

Hon. Isaac Rankine shared his enthusiasm to have the NYC at full capacity stating, “Having recently been reappointed as Minister for Youth, I am eager to see the National Youth Commission operating at full capacity. The Commission has already taken meaningful steps, such as helping to future-proof our young people through the Financial Literacy Programme. I believe the NYC will continue to play a vital role in empowering our youth to reach their full potential.”

The Ministry encourages all eligible and passionate individuals to apply and be a part of shaping the future of youth development in the Cayman Islands.
