The Financial Services Institute (FSI) is pleased to announce that BDO Cayman has donated a scholarship to support a Caymanian student enrolled in the FSI's International Financial Services Diploma, an accredited programme designed to strengthen local expertise in the jurisdiction's key financial services sectors.

The donation reflects BDO's commitment to investing in the future of the Cayman Islands' financial industry by supporting locally based education and development opportunities for Caymanians.

The FSI is registered and accredited by the Cayman Islands Ministry of Education as a Post-Compulsory Education Institution and is the only institution in the Cayman Islands in this category focused exclusively on financial services education and training. Its diplomas are delivered in partnership with Modul University and the International College of the Cayman Islands, and cover practical areas such as Cayman's regulatory framework, anti-money laundering compliance, the role of CIMA and other regulators, as well as the core features of sectors including investment funds, captive insurance, reinsurance, and banking.

"We are proud to support the FSI's work in developing and promoting local talent within Cayman's financial services industry," said James George, Managing Partner at BDO Cayman. "As a firm committed to the future of our jurisdiction, we believe it is vital to provide meaningful pathways for Caymanians to advance their skills and knowledge in areas that are essential to the country's economy."

The scholarship will be awarded by the FSI to a Caymanian student accepted into the programme for the upcoming 2025/26 academic year. The institute manages the application and administration process directly, ensuring a streamlined experience for both students and sponsors.

"We are grateful to BDO for demonstrating real leadership in supporting local talent and investing in the long-term development of our industry," said Paul Byles, Director of the FSI. "This kind of corporate support is exactly what's needed to give Caymanians an opportunity to upskill and participate in our financial services industry"
