Police/Court

Just before 11:30AM, 14 August, officers at the Bodden Town Police Station were alerted to a loud noise outside the station and stepped outside to investigate. They observed a white Honda Civic which had stopped in the roadway along Bodden Town Road, just across from the station. It appeared that a wheel had broken off from the vehicle while it was driving.

The officers saw and spoke with the driver of the vehicle and ascertained that there were no other vehicles or property damaged as a result of the incident. Identification and vehicle documents were requested from the driver, a man, age 20 of Bodden Town, who instead attempted to evade the officers by running away but was caught and subsequently arrested.

During the arrest, the man resisted the officers and had to be taken to the ground, receiving minor injuries on his forehead. One of the officers received a broken finger and a laceration to his arm, while the other officer received minor injuries as well. All parties were taken to the hospital to be assessed and treated, and were later released.

The man was arrested on suspicion of several traffic offenses, included driving without insurance and driving without being licensed. He was further arrested for resisting arrest and assaulting police.

The matter is under investigation.
