Bodden Town Man Formally Charged with Arson

Bodden Town Man Formally Charged with Arson

Just after 2pm on Wednesday May 3, 2023 police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a vehicle fire at an address in Bodden Town.

It was reported that the fire was believed to have been deliberately set and officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service attended the location and extinguished the fire. The fire officers also conducted investigations which confirmed that incident to be an arson.

A 43-year-old man of Bodden Town, who attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle, collided with the fire truck. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of Arson and other offenses in relation to this incident, including several traffic offenses.

The Bodden Town man was formally charged for the offences of Arson and Harassment Alarm or Distress. He appeared in court on Friday, May 5, 2023 and was remanded in Tuesday 16 May.
