The Caribbean Tree Planting Project of the Cayman Islands would like to announce the launch of their social media campaign on Wednesday, April 22 - Earth Day 2020. This project aims to plant 1 million trees throughout the Caribbean to help reduce climate change and mitigate the detrimental impacts it brings to our world. Not only will this project create and spread environmental awareness for individuals; it also accelerates achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs 13 (Climate Action) and 15 (Life on Land). Planting trees across the Caribbean and world is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to take carbon out of the atmosphere to attack the climate crisis. When trees grow, they absorb and store carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to global warming. Furthermore, trees provide communities with a local food source and food security. Even in these uncertain times, families can work together to make a difference. People can participate and become involved by pledging to plant or donate trees, and by following our social media platforms; Instagram and Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/CaribbeanTreePlantingProject/
