The Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure (PLAHI) and the Ministry of Tourism and Trade Development concluded a productive week of engagement at the 2025 Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Cruise Conference & Trade Show, held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from October 20–24, 2025.

The Honourable Johany “Jay” Ebanks, Minister of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure, and the Honourable Gary Rutty, Deputy Premier and Minister of Tourism and Trade Development, led the Cayman Islands delegation, participating in a series of high-level meetings, round table discussions, and networking sessions with regional leaders and key cruise industry executives.

Throughout the week, the Cayman Islands delegation underscored the Government’s commitment to advancing responsible development, infrastructure resilience, and tourism innovation through strong regional partnerships. Their participation highlighted the synergy between national planning, infrastructure, and tourism — demonstrating how integrated policy development supports the Cayman Islands’ long-term economic growth and competitiveness.

Minister Jay Ebanks emphasised the value of aligning infrastructure and planning initiatives with the evolving needs of the tourism and cruise sectors.

“This conference has reinforced the importance of collaboration across the Caribbean as we all work toward more resilient and forward-looking destinations,” said Minister Ebanks. “We’ve had constructive discussions with industry partners that will help us enhance our infrastructure, protect our environment, and ensure the Cayman Islands remains a premier destination for visitors and investors alike.”

Deputy Premier Gary Rutty highlighted that the joint ministerial participation reflects the Cayman Islands Government’s unified approach to national development.

“Tourism, trade, and infrastructure are deeply interconnected, and this week has provided valuable opportunities to strengthen those links,” said the Deputy Premier. “By working together and engaging directly with our regional and industry counterparts, we are advancing shared goals that will benefit our people, our economy, and our communities.”

The FCCA Conference served as a key platform for the Cayman Islands to showcase ongoing progress in tourism and infrastructure enhancement, and economic diversification, while building relationships that will support continued growth in the cruise sector and beyond.

The Cayman Islands delegation returns home with renewed partnerships, actionable insights, and strengthened regional ties that will help shape the islands’ future development and prosperity.
