The Cayman Motoring Federation (CMF) proudly announces the successful completion of its second FIA Smart Driving Challenge (SDC), a month-long initiative promoting safer, smarter, and more sustainable driving across the Cayman Islands.

At the conclusion of this second challenge, Andrew Ritter (aka CarolinaCritter) emerged as both the Top Smart Driving Champion and Top Eco-Driving Champion, earning an impressive score of 1480.9 while reducing his carbon footprint by 30%. Ritter is also well-known in Cayman as a pirate actor, demonstrating that even swashbucklers can champion safe and sustainable driving. Andrew said “The Cayman Motoring Federation Smart Driving Challenge definitely improved how well I captained my ship (his electric car) during my travels around the Cayman Islands.  It allowed me to be safer, smarter, and more sustainable, plus it was fun watching my scores against the other participants.  I highly recommend that everyone give the competition a try, and hopefully we'll see better driving habits, reduced risks, and safer roads for everyone.”

The Top One-Time Scorer recognition went to Romane Blake (aka AccidentProne), who recorded a remarkable single-drive score of 1486.8, showcasing how consistent focus and awareness can make a significant difference behind the wheel. Andrew noted “I want to encourage everyone to drive safely and be more conscious of their habits on the road. The FIA Smart Driving Challenge app made me reflect after each drive—asking myself what I could do better, whether I needed to make that trip, or if I could carpool with family or friends. Driving is a privilege that requires constant learning, practice, and responsibility. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes all of us to keep our roads safe. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, and together we can protect both our wellbeing and our community.”

The Cayman Islands’ participation is part of the FIA Smart Driving Challenge Season 2025, a worldwide initiative uniting drivers from more than 80 countries. Led by the FIA and powered by Greater Than, the programme uses advanced AI to analyze driving behavior and encourage safer, smarter, and more eco-friendly mobility. By joining Season 2025, CMF ensures Cayman is not only represented on the global stage, but also actively contributing to the FIA’s mission of reducing road fatalities and cutting transport-related emissions, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Jane Scaletta, President of Cayman Motoring Federation said “The FIA Smart Driving Challenge is a global initiative that brings real, measurable change to local communities. Here in the Cayman Islands, we’re proud to contribute to this worldwide movement by helping drivers make safer choices and reduce their carbon impact. Through programs like this, CMF is aligning Cayman with international best practices, while creating a culture of responsibility and sustainability on our roads.”
