The Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation is proud to announce that internationally recognized author, speaker, and breast cancer survivor Christine Handy will attend the second annual Beyond the Scar fashion show as a VIP guest.
This inspiring event celebrates resilience, beauty, and strength, while raising awareness and support for those affected by breast cancer in the Cayman Islands.
Christine Handy, best known for her bestselling novel Walk Beside Me, will share her deeply personal journey through breast cancer. Her story of survival, faith, and transformation continues to inspire audiences around the world.
“I’m deeply honored and excited to travel to the beautiful Cayman Islands to serve as the speaker at the Beyond the Scar event. After facing my own stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis, multiple mastectomies, implant illness, and the devastating blow to my self-image as an international model, I learned that our worth is never defined by our scars -physical or emotional.
I do this work - speaking, writing Walk Beside Me, and turning my story into the film Hello Beautiful—because I refuse to let women walk through cancer alone. I show up so survivors can see that resilience, faith, and inner beauty rise far beyond the scar. The Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation’s powerful gathering reminds us all that we are warriors, not victims, and together we can celebrate life, strength, and hope in every form.”

In addition to being a headline sponsor, Baptist Health International will host a panel discussion featuring Christine Handy, Dr Jane Mendez, leading breast cancer physician, Pam Laurenson, BCF Wellness Manager and a local breast cancer patient. The panel will offer a powerful blend of lived experience and medical insight.
“Baptist Health International is proud to support initiatives like Beyond the Scar that celebrate the strength and resilience of breast cancer survivors. We are especially honored to have Dr. Jane Méndez participate as a featured speaker-reflecting our ongoing commitment to supporting patients in the Cayman Islands and advancing cancer care through meaningful partnerships with the Breast Cancer Foundation.”
