The Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) has strengthened its leadership and regulatory capacity with the appointment of Alfred Tweneboah as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Samantha Bartlett as Associate Director, Regulatory Licensing & Compliance, and Tishan Connolly as Compliance Officer, Regulatory Licensing & Compliance.
All three appointments took effect on 1 July 2026 and form part of CIIPA’s continued development of its organisational structure and regulatory functions.
“These appointments represent an important step in the continued development of CIIPA and strengthen our capacity to serve our members, regulate the profession and meet our responsibilities as a self-regulatory body,” CIIPA Chief Executive Officer Sheree Ebanks said. “I am particularly pleased to see the progression of Samantha and Tishan within the organisation and to recognise Alfred’s expanded role as Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Each brings valuable experience and expertise to their respective roles, and I look forward to their continued contribution to CIIPA and the wider accounting profession."
Tweneboah has been appointed to the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer while continuing in his existing role as Director of Regulatory Affairs & Policy. He has been with CIIPA since April 2024 and has responsibility for CIIPA’s regulatory function, including regulatory policy, quality assurance, AML/CFT supervision and professional standards.
As Deputy CEO, he will deputise for the CEO, contribute to organisational strategy and management, and represent CIIPA with members, government, regulators and international partners. Bartlett’s appointment follows more than seven years of continuous service with CIIPA since joining the organisation in September 2018. It recognises her continued contribution to CIIPA and marks her progression into a leadership role within the Institute's regulatory function.
As Associate Director, she leads CIIPA's Regulatory Licensing & Compliance team, overseeing membership, licensing and firm registration functions, as well as compliance monitoring and quality assurance activities.
Connolly’s new role will see her support CIIPA's regulatory licensing and compliance functions, including membership, practitioner licensing and firm registration applications and renewals, due diligence and compliance checks, quality assurance activities, CPD monitoring and complaints handling.
Both Bartlett and Connolly are Caymanian and their appointments reflect CIIPA's commitment to developing local talent and strengthening the organisation's capacity from within. They will form part of CIIPA's Regulatory Licensing & Compliance team, which works alongside the Institute's AML Compliance team as part of CIIPA's wider regulatory function.
The appointments come at an important period in CIIPA's development as the Institute continues to strengthen its regulatory framework, enhance its AML/CFT/CPF supervisory functions and expand its engagement with government, regulators and international partners.
“The strength of an organisation depends on the people behind it. These appointments reflect the talent and commitment within CIIPA and our investment in building the expertise and leadership we need for the future,” Ebanks said. “We are proud to see Caymanian professionals progressing within the organisation and taking on increased responsibility.”
