Students from Cayman International School’s (CIS) Class of 2025 celebrated in style on Friday, 30 May 2025, as all 63 graduated with their CIS High School Diploma.
This year’s ceremony marked the school’s 18th graduating class, with 100% of seniors successfully receiving their Diplomas. The success of the students and the number graduating reflects the school’s ethos and growth since the first graduation in 2008 when just 4 students graduated.
Jim Urquhart, Director of CIS said, “Congratulations to every one of our High School students who have graduated this year. We are incredibly proud that we have a 100% success rate that reflects the hard work of the students, our teachers, teaching assistants and the whole CIS team.”
“The large number of students in this year’s cohort shows the growth and development of the school and the trust and belief that parents and students have in our ability to provide them with a high-quality education within a nurturing and progressive environment.”
Urquhart also believes that the school’s approach to teaching with students, coupled with the school’s early childhood to high school facilities are significant factors in the students’ academic success and in the success of the school overall.
“I believe that when highly motivated students are being taught by teachers committed to providing meaningful learning experiences through a guided inquiry approach which fosters critical thinking, the successes such as those at this year’s graduation are inevitable. We have also invested heavily in equipping our school with state-of-the-art learning facilities such as our STEAM labs, 3D printers, robotics, as well as our sports facilities.”
Of the Class of 2025 students who applied to university this year, all were offered at least one placement with over 150 offers in total. Of those students who applied to UK universities, 63% of offers received were from the prestigious Russell Group which includes the University of Liverpool, University of Leeds. University of Bristol and University of Edinburgh amongst its members.
“From the placement offers students received this year it’s clear that their academic achievements and personal development gained through their journeys at CIS are providing them with opportunities to win places at prestigious universities all over the world,” he continued.
“CIS has offered a complete education programme from early childhood to Grade 12 from the beginning. It creates a unique environment where students can progress and thrive through their entire school life. We recognise that parents in Cayman have a choice when deciding where they want their children to go to school. Many have trusted us with the education of their children from early childhood all the way through to graduation in this year.”
With the school year drawing to a close for the summer break, Urquhart and his team are looking forward to the next year’s intake for 2025-26.
“We wish all of our graduates every success as they move on to take their next steps at university or elsewhere and we are now preparing for next year. We have many new students starting across all grades in the school, and places are in high demand.”
Limited places are still available for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. For more information on availability and CIS you can visit the website at www.caymaninternationalschool.org/ or email admissions@cis.ky.
