As part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (“CUC”) has partnered with the Department of Financial Assistance to support vulnerable families in preparing for the 2026 hurricane season.

For six decades, CUC has remained committed to serving the people of Grand Cayman. With safety as its top priority, the Company identified an opportunity to give back in a meaningful way by helping at-risk individuals access essential hurricane preparedness supplies during this critical time of year.

“Giving back to our community is something we are truly passionate about,” said Mr. Richard Hew, President and CEO of Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. “Whether through community events, youth development, or supporting those in need, CUC recognises the important role we play in strengthening the resilience of our community.”

Ms. Tamara Hurlston, Director of the Department of Financial Assistance, said, “I thank CUC for honouring their 60th Anniversary with a meaningful donation of gift cards to help our clients secure critical hurricane season supplies. CUC’s partnership and commitment to community resilience remain invaluable, and we acknowledge their continued support with deep gratitude.”

The Honourable Issac Rankine, JP, MP and Minister for Social Development & Innovation and Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage commented on the collaboration and stated, “Supporting families in need remains a priority for the National Coalition for Caymanians (“NCFC”) Government, and this generous donation will further reinforce our efforts to help families enhance their hurricane preparedness. I extend my sincere appreciation to CUC for this meaningful contribution to the well-being of the families we serve and the safety of our islands. The donation from CUC will play a meaningful role in strengthening efforts to assist families in enhancing their readiness for the hurricane season. This truly reflects the value of partnership and the spirit of community that make initiatives like this possible.”

In support of this initiative, CUC donated CI$20,000.00 in gift cards from a combination of grocery and hardware stores which will be distributed to families to assist with purchasing essential hurricane supplies on Grand Cayman and in the Sister Islands.
