Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. ("CUC") is pleased to announce the promotion of Robert Whorms to Vice President Operations. Mr. Whorms joined CUC in 1996, after graduating from John Gray High School, as an Electrician Apprentice. In 1998 he was awarded a scholarship from CUC to attend Florida International University. He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and returned to CUC where he advanced through several leadership roles, including Production Engineer, Manager System Operations, Manager Electrical Maintenance, Manager Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Operations, and most recently, Director Energy Delivery. Throughout his 30-year career with CUC, he has played a key role in maintaining the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of electricity across Grand Cayman.
In his new role, Mr. Whorms will provide strategic leadership for the Company's energy operations, overseeing the planning, construction, maintenance and operation of CUC's generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure. He will continue to lead initiatives that strengthen reliability, support future growth and enhance service for customers. Mr. Whorms succeeds Dr. Stephen Jay, who has served as Vice President Operations, for the past three years. Dr. Jay joined CUC with extensive utility industry experience gained in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, including senior leadership roles with New Zealand's national grid operator and largest renewable energy utility. During his tenure, Dr. Jay helped advance CUC's focus on reliability, resiliency and operational excellence while championing employee development and succession planning.

Throughout his career, Mr. Whorms has led major infrastructure projects, generation expansion initiatives, and operational improvements that enhanced efficiency and reduced costs. He has also championed employee development, safety excellence and community involvement, serving as an elected Chamber of Commerce Councilor and mentor through youth development programmes.
