CyKids is proud to announce their new Community Director, Mrs. Pamela Webster.

Mrs. Webster is the immediate past CEO at NCVO Children’s Services, awarded a Joanna Clarke “Excellent in Education” award for Literacy projects and brings her decades of charity and active community Board experiences to CyKids.

About Cykids

CyKids stands for Cayman Cyber Kids and is a program that takes on the hard issues surrounding cybersecurity and the way we keep our Caymanian families safe. It promotes online safety awareness to children in our community from ages 7 to 17. CyKids’ priority is creating awareness on these topics such as the healthy use of devices, protecting your personal information and recognition of malicious and predatory behavior.

Adding to her expression of CYKIDS goals, Mrs. Webster quoted Andrew Newman, Forbes Technology Council (2022), “Kids, tweens, and teens are often the most unsecured consumers, yet they are some of the most highly connected.” The article goes onto share, “When we refer to the weakest links in our home cybersecurity network, we could be referring to any endpoint: our mic, camera, phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, etc. But there's another important vector within our homes that we often neglect.

Just when you think you've secured everything with your next-generation antivirus protection, DNS solution, VPN or any other safety feature, what happens when your kid comes along and tells you, "Hey, dad. Someone hacked into my gaming account"? Or, "Hey, mom. I think I downloaded a virus with the new game I just torrented on our family PC." Now what?”

In her role as Community Director, Mrs. Webster will play a pivotal part in spearheading local educational initiatives, parent workshops, school presentations, fostering partnerships with local businesses, and driving positive change for the families of the Cayman Islands.

Ms. Anne Briggs, a respected Caymanian Educator and parent of her own twin CyKids teenage volunteers' stated, “Empowering children with online safety education; is an imperative. In today’s digital world, teaching children how to navigate the virtual landscape responsibility and security is an investment in their well-being, protection, and future success.”

Polly Pickering, Managing Director of eShore, expressed her enthusiasm for Pamela’s appointment stating. “We are delighted to welcome Pamela as our new Community Director of CYKIDS.ky. Her years of expertise in Cybersecurity technology coupled with her volunteerism is a wonderful combination for the organization and the community of Cayman.”

CyKids would like to extend its warmest congratulations to Pamela and her unwavering commitment to the betterment of our community.
