As the hurricane season officially begins, key personnel of the Department of Environmental Health (DEH) came together to fine-tune details of the department’s plans to minimise any possible disruptions of its operations and actions required leading up to, during and after the impact of a severe weather system or hurricane.

The meeting held on Tuesday, 31 May 2022 at the Conference Room of the George Town Library was led by the DEH Director, Mr. Richard Simms. “Our team discussed details of the department’s business continuity plan, the initial clearance and debris management plan among other strategies to enhance the efficiency of the role played by the DEH in the national response to the impact of a hurricane”, he said.

Among the strategies to be communicated to members of the public are food safety tips, guidelines to ensure proper waste disposal, securing of garbage bins, separation of garbage from debris materials, location of temporary debris sites, etc.
