Shortly after 8:00PM yesterday, 30 October, Emergency Services received a report of what appeared to be an aircraft descending, followed by a flash resembling an explosion. Responders immediately gathered information and deployed both air and sea assets to conduct a thorough search based on eyewitness accounts.
Despite extensive efforts, no evidence of an incident was observed at this time. It is important to note the limited nighttime visibility affecting observations. The matter was declared a major incident at 11:15PM.
To ensure a coordinated response, the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) was activated to align all primary agencies for first-light operations today.
Search efforts continue today in coordination with HMCI, CICG, RCIPS, DOE, CIFS and other agencies.
