The Ministry of Health, Environment and Sustainability has published three health reform Bills for public consultation: the Health Practice (Amendment No.2) Bill, 2026, the Public Health Bill, 2026 and the Environmental Health Bill, 2026.
The Bills were published on 28 August, and together with the Tobacco (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which was published on 21 August, all four Bills are now available at publicconsultation.gov.ky for the public to review and comment on during the 28-day legislative consultation.
Honourable Katherine Ebanks-Wilks, the Minister for Health, Environment and Sustainability, said: “Over the past four weeks, we have heard directly from people across all three islands about these proposed reforms. That engagement has been valuable, and I encourage everyone to continue the conversation by reading the Bills and sharing their views.
“These Bills address issues that affect all of us – from the health services we receive and the environments in which we live and work, to how we protect public health and prepare for emergencies. This is an important opportunity for the public to look closely at what is being proposed and have their say.”
The Ministry held six in-person town hall events across Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman during August, as well as a dedicated meeting on the Health Practice Bill attended by Cayman’s medical practitioners.
