In June each year Trooping the Colour, also known as 'The Queen's Birthday Parade', takes place on Horse Guards Parade in London.

Here in the Cayman Islands, as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, for the very first time, the celebratory parade will also take place in Cayman Brac this Saturday 4 June 2022 at 10am.

Aston Rutty Centre will be filled with the colours of four participating contingents including the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS), the Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS), The Cayman Islands Cadet Corps and the Cayman Islands Regiment. Attendees are asked to be seated by 9:30am.

In this most fitting setting, where dignitaries and members of the community will come together, four distinguished ‘Brackas’ will also be awarded the Certificate & Badge of Honour.

Recipients include:

Mr Ralston Dilbert

Ms Kedine Hyde

Ms Suzette Young-Watson

Mr Bentley Leroy Tibbetts Jr

Immediately after the ceremony the celebrations will continue with a Tea Party – serving up various assortments of tea, scones, sandwiches and cupcakes for all attendees.

The events of the day are business attire, medals of honour should be worn.

Later on in a more casual setting the Jubilee Celebration & Fireworks will kick off at Spot Bay Community Cove at 7pm. A DJ, bouncing castle, snow cones, and lots of other family fun activities are planned for the Jubilee Celebration and will be available to enjoy free to the community. The highly anticipated fireworks show generously co-sponsored by Dan and Lisa Scott and Cayman National Bank will begin at 9pm.

“I am delighted that we will make history on the Brac on Saturday by holding the first Queen’s Birthday Parade to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee - 70 remarkable years of duty and service to the people of the UK, Overseas Territories and Commonwealth. It will also be the first time that I have conferred Certificates and Badges of Honour in Cayman Brac on outstanding members of our community.  I am attending the morning and evening events on the Brac and look forward to meeting members of the community during the visit,” said His Excellency the Governor, Mr Martyn Roper.

Information on the revised venues and times are available on the official Jubilee website:  www.gov.ky/jubilee.
