The Health Services Authority is now offering prescription delivery to the vulnerable and elderly as a permanent service thanks to British Caymanian’s (BritCay’s) donation of USD $20,000 towards the purchase of a delivery vehicle.

The HSA pharmacy expanded deliveries to these categories of patients at the onset of the COVID-19 shelter-in-place provisions and understood the need for the service within the community on a full-time basis.

“Our pharmacy team, and the HSA as a whole, has had to adapt quickly to ensure that patients continue to receive optimal healthcare in uncertain conditions”, said HSA Chief Pharmacist Colin Medford. “Delivering prescriptions directly to our vulnerable and elderly patients affords patients the ability to continue their medications without putting themselves at risk. We are grateful to BritCay for their contribution towards the new prescription delivery vehicle allowing us to further expand our services across the island.”

“BritCay has been part of the local community for more than 35 years, and we’ve always sought to support it in any way possible…especially during times when so many are hurting and in need,” said BritCay Health Manager Lamar Haynes. “We are especially thankful to all our frontline workers and wanted to do something special to demonstrate that. The HSA has been at the forefront of the COVID-19 fight, so naturally we wanted to both salute them and further enable their efforts.”

Vulnerable persons and senior citizens who would like to utilise the delivery service should contact the HSA pharmacy by phone at 244-2715 or 244-2716. Prescriptions are still available for collection at the Cayman Islands Hospital pharmacy, District Health Centre pharmacies and Smith Road Centre location (100% coverage only). Patients can also request refills online at www.hsa.ky or by WhatsApp at 925-6534.
