The Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce invites residents, businesses, schools, families, and civic groups to take part in Earth Day 2026, the islands’ largest annual community cleanup, taking place on Saturday, 18 April 2026. Organised by the Chamber since the 1990s, CaymanCLEAN has grown into one of the country’s most impactful and well-supported environmental initiatives. Over the years, thousands of volunteers have collected thousands of bags of litter—from roadsides and neighbourhoods to beaches, mangroves, and reefs—protecting Cayman’s natural beauty and marine ecosystems. As a Signature Programme of the Chamber, CaymanCLEAN supports the organisation’s Quality of Life Advocacy pillar, which promotes a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Cayman for residents and visitors alike. Visitors frequently cite the cleanliness of the islands as one of Cayman’s most impressive features—an achievement made possible through consistent community action. Earth Day 2026 also marks the 56th anniversary of the global environmental movement launched in 1970. With climate resilience and community action expected to feature prominently in this year’s global theme, the Chamber believes local initiatives like CaymanCLEAN are more important than ever. In recent years, CaymanCLEAN has attracted 3,000–3,500 volunteers and 90–100 teams islandwide, making it one of the largest single-day volunteer efforts in the Cayman Islands. Chamber CEO Wil Pineau said: “Earth Day shows what Cayman can achieve when we come together. Every volunteer, every team, and every sponsor plays a role in protecting an environment that is central to our quality of life and our economy. A cleaner Cayman is a better Cayman for everyone.”
