Man Arrested For Dangerous Driving and Other Offenses Following Collision
Police/Court
27 August 2025, 05:02 AM

Just after 8:00PM on Monday, 25 August 2025, officers observed a BMW travelling dangerously on West Bay Road near Cemetery Beach. The vehicle, with no headlights on, swerved into oncoming traffic and forced police to take evasive action.

Despite officers activating lights and sirens, the driver refused to stop, continuing onto West Bay Road and onto the Esterley Tibbets Highway before returning to West Bay Road, repeatedly endangering other road users. Officers monitored the vehicle at a safe distance but discontinued their efforts to follow the vehicle when it accelerated to high speed.

A short time later, the BMW collided with another car waiting at the traffic lights at the intersection of West Bay Road and Eastern Avenue. The BMW driver, a 56-year-old man residing in George Town, was arrested for dangerous driving and multiple other traffic-related offences and transported by ambulance to the Anthony S. Eden Hospital with minor injuries. No other persons were injured in the incident.

RCIPS is reminding motorists that reckless driving puts lives at risk, and urged all motorists to drive safely, obey road rules, and remain considerate of others.
