Police/Court
13 June 2025, 05:21 PM

Grand Cayman, 13 June - Just after 8:15 AM on Wednesday, 11 June, police were on patrol in the area of Shedden Road, in George Town, when they observed a vehicle with no registration plates attached and whose occupants appeared to be behaving suspiciously.

Using emergency lights and sirens, officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the vehicle refused to stop. Due to the behaviour of the occupants and the manner in which the vehicle was being driven, the officers followed the vehicle and continued to signal for the vehicle to stop, while monitoring to ensure that members of the public remained safe. The vehicle refused to stop for police and travelled on West Bay Road, then entered the West Bay District.

While on West Bay Road, officers observed that the occupants began to throw items from the vehicle while it continued on its path. The vehicle continued into the Barkers' area of West Bay, where it eventually came to a stop. Three men exited the vehicle and ran from the officers, who gave chase. Two of the men were apprehended by the police, and one man evaded the officers. Police returned to the area where items had been observed being thrown from the vehicle; however, nothing was found.

The vehicle was searched by the police, and a quantity of ganja, as well as drug paraphernalia, was seen and recovered as evidence along with the vehicle. The men, age 23 of George Town and age 39 of Bodden Town, were arrested for drug-related offences. The men have since been bailed pending further investigation.

The incident is being investigated by the police.
