Police/Court
20 June 2025, 04:48 AM

Just before 1:30 PM on Tuesday 17 June, officers from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service and Public Lands Commission responded to the Seven Mile Public Beach where it was reported that drugs were being sold in the area.

The officers carried out checks in the area when they arrived at the location. Having seen a man behaving suspiciously, they approached him, and when he saw the officers, he ran in the direction of the car park. After a short foot chase, the man was seen entering a vehicle that sped off in the direction of George Town on West Bay Road and the officers continued to follow the man in this vehicle along West Bay Road.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop in Camana Bay and a search of the vehicle was carried out. During the search, a quantity of ganja was found along with other drug paraphernalia. The officers also found and recovered a machete and baseball bat from the vehicle. After finding these items inside of the vehicle, the vehicle itself was recovered as evidence by the police.

Two men, ages 23 and 32, one of George Town and the other of West Bay, were arrested on suspicion of possession of ganja with intent to supply, possession of offensive weapons and other drug related offenses.

This incident is being investigated by the police and both men have since been bailed pending further investigations.
