Each October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and reigning Miss World Cayman Islands (“MWCI”), Leanni Tibbetts stepped up to the fundraising challenge of raising two thousand dollars for the Breast Cancer Foundation (“BCF”) to help provide vital financial assistance to breast cancer patients who are unable to afford treatment, fund wellness programs, raise awareness and provide local practitioners with training in specialized areas.

Throughout the month, Leanni challenged the Cayman Islands community to dig deep into their pockets and make a donation to help the BCF to save lives. Leanni was able to garner $600 from MWCI Committee members, friends, family, residents, and valued sponsors. Leanni’s challenge caught the attention of Rotary Central Cayman Islands, who with excitement donated $1,400, which met her two thousand dollar fundraising goal.

“I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) fundraising challenge,” Miss World Cayman Islands 2022 Leanni Tibbetts said. “The work that the BCF has done to help people, not just overcome breast cancer, but also feel comfortable throughout the process, is truly phenomenal. I’ve had the honor of working with the BCF before obtaining the title of Miss World Cayman, and will most definitely continue to assist the foundation in any way possible.” Tibbetts commented.

The cheque by Rotary Central Cayman Islands was presented on December 6, 2022 by representatives of Rotary Central Cayman Islands, along with Breast Cancer Foundation Director, Janette Fitzgerald.

“Leanni has been a great supporter of the Foundation and the $2,000 we received was a fantastic amount,” Ms. Fitzgerald said. “It is to be used exclusively for our Awareness Program. Leanni is like us - passionate about ‘knowledge is power and early detection saves lives’. We are truly grateful for her support and the support of the Miss World Cayman Islands Committee.” Ms. Fitzgerald noted.
