MoET & DES Ask Parents to Prepare Children for Continued Wet Weather
Education
21 September 2026, 05:04 AM

The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) and the Department of Education Services (DES) urge parents and guardians to make sure children are prepared for wet conditions throughout this week (21-25 September). This includes ensuring children have raincoats and umbrellas for drop-off, pick-up and transitions between classes.

Parents and guardians are also asked to arrange to safely collect their children from the bus stop when they return from school.

This follows a Flood Alert issued by the Cayman Islands National Weather Service (CINWS) for all three islands through Monday, 21 September and a forecast of heavier rainfall on Tuesday, 22 September.

MoET and DES will continue closely monitoring the situation in consultation with Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) and will share any further school-related updates through social media and direct communication if conditions change.

Parents and guardians are also encouraged to visit caymanprepared.ky for weather-related information and updates.
