Mosquito control operations stepped up in Little Cayman

The Mosquito Research and Control Unit (MRCU) is increasing operations in Little Cayman following reports of higher mosquito activity on the island.

MRCU teams are in Little Cayman today conducting service requests, swamp inspections and thermal fogging. In response to the increased need for mosquito control, teams will now travel to Little Cayman each Friday to carry out enhanced treatments and respond to service requests.

A service request is when a resident contacts MRCU to report increased mosquito biting or mosquito larvae. To make a service request, simply send an email to mrcu@gov.ky with the location, a short summary of the issue and a contact number.

MRCU also reminds the public that larviciding operations are now under way across the Cayman Islands to help keep mosquito numbers as low as possible. Treatments are ongoing in Grand Cayman and will then move to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. Aerial larviciding in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman is planned for early to mid-December.
