On Saturday, 15 November, the highly anticipated Pirates Week Drone Show was postponed due to interference with the drone signal. Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to rescheduled the show for Tuesday, 18 November.
It was previously suggested that the likely cause of the interference may have been the United States Coast Guard vessel that was in port. However, the Port Authority of the Cayman Islands has now confirmed that, due to the age and configuration of the vessel, it does not possess the technology or systems capable of interfering with drone signals.
The vessel was issued diplomatic clearance to call on the port during the weekend of 15 November, 2025. As part of its pre-clearance process, the vessel was required to seek approval from the Governor’s Office and the Port Authority of the Cayman Islands.
The Ministry thanks the public for their understanding and looks forward to welcoming the community to the Pirates Week Drone Show on Tuesday, 18 November at 7pm on Seafarers Way.
