At about 5:30PM on Friday, 22 August, officers on patrol in the Industrial Park area of George Town, observed a vehicle which had been reported stolen travelling on Seymour Drive. The officers signaled the vehicle to stop and arrested the occupants, two men ages 22 and 24, residing in George Town, on suspicion of taking a conveyance without authority.
The vehicle, a Honda CR-V, which had been reported stolen on Monday, 18 August, was recovered by police pending further investigation.
This past weekend, police also recovered one stolen vehicle and several stolen vehicle parts in the Bodden Town area.
The RCIPS is reminding the public to take precautions against vehicle thefts, by ensuring unattended vehicles are properly secured and if possible parked in well-lit and non-secluded areas. Persons should also consider utilising CCTV cameras on their property.
RCIPS is also reminding the public to report lost or stolen registration plates to the police as soon as they are discovered missing. These plates can be used on other vehicles, including stolen vehicles, to facilitate criminal conduct and assist criminals avoid capture.
