Police Conduct Targeted Road Safety Enforcement in the Eastern Districts
Police/Court
10 March 2026, 11:40 AM

Following four stages of a targeted road safety operation, named Operation Hummingbird, conducted on 15 February, 22 February, 1 March and 8 March, police officers issued a total of 175 tickets for traffic offences, 95 of which were for speeding offences.

This road safety operation was executed in response to multiple reports of reckless and dangerous road use by motorists, particularly those operating motorcycles.

To date, four riders of micro-mobility devices have been prosecuted for various traffic offences.

Operation Hummingbird took place during peak daytime hours, with primary focus along the Frank Sound Road and Seaview Road corridor heading east toward East End, as well as Bodden Town Road, Rum Point Road and Shamrock Road.

The enforcement activity was supported by the Air Operations Unit, which assisted with the identification and safe apprehension of traffic violators.

Officers will maintain robust enforcement efforts and pursue prosecution against anyone who fails to observe the laws of these Islands

Additionally, police are aware of, and will be taking action in response to, multiple reports of traffic violations in the district of West Bay. Some of the traffic violations being observed include:

• Driving vehicles with illegal window tints, particularly windscreen tints
• Driving vehicles without visible or properly affixed licence plates

Police remind all road users that operating a vehicle in a manner that endangers others is a serious offence under the Traffic Act.

Motorists and other road users are reminded to drive responsibly, ensure their vehicles are compliant with the law, and report dangerous driving behaviour to the police.

Although this operation is aimed at addressing reckless and dangerous road use by motorcyclists, police will continue to enforce all traffic offences daily across the island.
