Just before 5:00PM, Saturday 13 January, police responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store in the vicinity of Birch Tree Hill Road, West Bay.

It was reported that two men entered the store, both wearing face coverings and armed with bladed weapons. One man approached the cashier and demanded cash from the register. He threatened the cashier with a machete, resulting in a laceration to the cashiers hand, and proceeded to take a sum of cash from the register. The second man, armed with a knife, stole liquor.

Both men then left the store and departed the location in a grey Honda Fit rental vehicle with no license plates in the direction of Finch Drive.

The male wielding the machete is described as tall, with a dark complexion, and spoke with a Caymanian accent.

The second male is described as about 5”, 7” and of slim build.

RCIPS Air Operations Unit assisted police units in tracking the Honda Fit, which was located abandoned in a bush area on Andreson Road. The vehicle has been recovered for forensic analysis.

The matter is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the West Bay CID at 949-3999.
