Just before 10:00PM on Monday 25 May, police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a robbery that took place at a food truck located on South Church Street.
It was reported that two men, one armed with what appeared to be a handgun and the other with what appeared to be a knife, approached the truck and demanded cash. The men made off from the location with a cash pan containing a quantity of cash.
There were no injuries reported to the police and no shots were fired.
Firearm Response officers, who responded to the incident, were making checks in the George Town area when they observed two men on bicycles in the Windsor Park area, fitting the descriptions of the suspects in the earlier robbery.
The men, on seeing the police, abandoned their bicycles and ran on foot from the location.
Officers followed the men on foot and one man, age 52, was apprehended by the police and arrested on suspicion of robbery and other offences.
The man remains in custody pending further investigation.
