Just after 10 PM on Saturday, 15 November, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a serious assault incident that took place at the Pirates Week event in George Town.
It was reported that two men had a verbal altercation in the area of the main courthouse building on Edward Street. This altercation escalated to a physical fight, which led to one of the men sustaining a stab wound to the area of his chest.
The victim left the scene in a private vehicle as officers responded and was met by the ambulance en route. The injured man was treated by the hospital overnight for serious but non-life-threatening wounds. He has since self-discharged from the hospital following his treatment.
The suspect involved in this incident fled the location before the police arrived. He was described as being tall and dark skinned and wearing black clothing. A search was carried out by the police for the suspect throughout the night with negative results.
The incident took place during the Pirates Week event, where there was a large number of people present at the time of this altercation. Detectives are encouraging anyone with information to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222 and assist with this ongoing investigation.
