Shortly after 10:40PM, 4 September, officers received a report that a stolen vehicle had been spotted at an address in the Belford Estates area of Bodden Town, along with a man who was wanted in relation to the theft as well as a prior matter. Officers attended the location and confronted the man, who violently resisted officers’ attempts to arrest him. A struggle ensued, during which the man drew a knife on the officers, at which time officers deployed a taser.

The man, age 50, residing in George Town, was subsequently arrested for resisting arrest, breach of court order, possession of an offensive weapon, and taking a conveyance without authority.

The man complained of pain and was transported to the hospital to be assessed. He was subsequently discharged into police custody. No one else was injured during the incident.

The stolen vehicle was recovered by police, and the matter remains under investigation.
