On Wednesday, 12 November, officers conducted an operation at an address in Windsor Park, George Town, under the Misuse of Drugs Act. A comprehensive search of the premises was conducted and a significant quantity of suspected ganja was recovered, along with drug paraphernalia.
The following day, a man age 49 residing in George Town, was arrested on suspicion of possession and consumption of ganja, and possession of ganja with intent to supply, in relation to the recovery. He has been granted bail as investigations continue.
The total amount of suspected ganja recovered is weighed at about 147lbs.
On 28 November, officers had cause to search a residence in the Mount Pleasant area of West Bay. A small handgun containing ammunition was recovered by police during the search.
Subsequently, police arrested a man age 60, and a woman age 53, both residing in West Bay, on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
They have both since been formally charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (Ammunition). They appeared in court on Monday, 1 December and were granted bail, pending a further appearance.
