UPDATE

Police can confirm that all seven victims of the shooting incident which occurred on Sunday, 25 February, at the Ed Bush Field in West Bay, have been discharged from hospital.

All seven are expected to make a full recovery. On behalf of the community, the RCIPS extends gratitude to our colleagues at the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority for their efforts in administering expert medical care to those injured in the incident.

UPDATE

On 2 March, officers arrested a second man, age 30 of West Bay, in relation to the shooting incident which occurred on Sunday, 25 February, at the Ed Bush Field in West Bay.

He remains in police custody as investigations continue.

On 1 March, following a proactive police operation, a man, age 24 of West Bay, was arrested in relation to the shooting incident which occurred on Sunday, 25 February, at the Ed Bush Field in West Bay. He remains in custody.

As investigations continue, police are seeking a number of other persons who are believed to be connected to the incident. Police have also conducted several searches in the days since the incident occurred.

Proactive operations and searches will continue in the days to come, and members of the public will continue to see an increased armed police presence, particularly in targeted areas, as well as proactive police patrols and vehicle checkpoints.

We continue to encourage anyone with information on the incident to call 9-1-1 or the RCIPS Major Incident Room at 649-2930.

Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via our Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or via our website.

Persons can also attend their nearest police station or speak directly with a trusted officer.

Additionally, Cayman Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the arrest, charge or conviction of individuals responsible for this incident. The Cayman Islands Government have also decided to support this reward with an additional $200,000 toward solving the crime.
