Premier and Minister for Financial Services and Commerce, the Hon. André M. Ebanks MP will undertake a series of engagements in New York and Toronto from 13 to 16 October as part of the Cayman Islands Government’s sustained international financial services outreach. The visit will focus on deepening relationships with reinsurance, investment and banking stakeholders, sharing Government’s strategic priorities, and discussing opportunities to support the continued advancement and competitiveness of Cayman’s financial services sector.
In New York, the Premier will participate in the annual Cayman Islands Reinsurance Roundtable Breakfast, which brings together senior industry leaders, regulators and Government representatives to discuss developments shaping Cayman’s reinsurance sector and the wider international market.
The Premier will also participate in a reinsurance briefing and meet with senior executives from reinsurance and investment businesses. These discussions will provide an opportunity to share updates on the continued modernisation of Cayman’s insurance framework, following the submission of its application for recognition as a Qualified Jurisdiction by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners in August 2026.
In Toronto, the Premier will deliver a keynote address at the Alternative Investment Management Association Global Investor Forum and participate in a roundtable discussion with investment management and financial services professionals. He will also meet with senior banking executives to discuss Cayman’s economic outlook, strategic priorities and opportunities for banking services to support the jurisdiction’s continued development.
The Premier will be accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary, the Hon. Julie Hunter JP MP; Cayman Islands Government Representative, Gene DaCosta; and Private Secretary in the Office of the Premier, Sean Whewell.
Representatives from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority will also participate in the New York reinsurance events. While the Premier is overseas, the Hon. Rolston Anglin JP MP is Acting Premier; the Hon. Katherine Ebanks-Wilks MP is Acting Deputy Premier; and the Hon. Wayne Panton, JP MP is Acting Minister for Financial Services and Commerce. The public will be updated on the visit’s key highlights and outcomes following the Premier’s return.
